Iowa Able Partners
The Iowa Able Foundation exists as a collaboration between several groups:
- The State of Iowa, represented by The Iowa Finance Authority
- The Iowa Program for Assistive Technology, and
- The Abilities Fund and PR Lind & Company
Iowa Finance Authority
Established in 1975, the Iowa Finance Authority (IFA) is charged with the primary duty of assisting in the attainment of housing for low to moderate income Iowans. IFA has recognized the needs of individuals with disabilities in low-income settings to obtain adequate financing to make the necessary housing modifications to become independent and productive citizens.
To provide the administration of the Iowa Able loan programs, IFA has entered into a joint contract with two community-based organizations, State Public Policy Group and The Abilities Fund, whose missions best represent the advancement of individuals with disabilities.
Iowa Program for Assistive Technology (IPAT)
The Iowa Program for Assistive Technology is Iowa's grant project under the Assistive Technology Act (ATA) of 1998.IPAT is supported by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR), U.S. Department of Education. IPAT works to promote assistive technology through awareness, training, and policy work. It funded the initial lending program and continues to support Iowa Able Board functions. IPAT operates an information and referral service on assistive technology called InfoTech to help callers find resources for new and used assistive technology and funding.
